ZooNation Youth Company audition

groove-on-down-the-roadHip hop dance company ZooNation are looking for new members to join their successful and ambitious youth company in 2014.

 

 

The company will hold a one-day audition on Sunday, January 19 in East London. Young dancers, aged 8 to 21 years, are invited to register by Tuesday, January 14.

 

Founded in 2006, ZooNation Youth Company has featured some of the best young hip-hoppers in the UK, with dancers from all over London and from as far afield as Manchester, Stoke, Birmingham and Brighton. The company has danced in the West End show Into The Hoods, in the Channel 4/BAFTA short film The Holloway Launderette, at Sadler’s Wells’ Breakin’ Convention for the International Olympic Committee in 2012. The cast of ZooNation’s 2013 production, Groove On Down The Road, was entirely made up of ZooNation Youth Company members, who appeared in the show at Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Place and the Royal Albert Hall.

Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there. She is the dance critic of The Independent, and has also written for The Independent on Sunday, The Scotsman and Dancing Times. In 2002, she received her doctorate from the University of York for a thesis on “Nationhood and epic romance: Ariosto, Sidney, Spenser”. She is the author of The Royal Ballet: 75 Years and The Ballet Lover’s Companion.
