The Place has announced the first group of artists of Work Place, its new programme supporting professional choreographers.
Chosen to reflect the diversity of independent dance in the UK, the eleven artists are Tony Adigun, Rosemary Butcher, Ben Duke, Simon Ellis, Rosemary Lee, Eva Recacha, Frauke Requardt, Luca Silvestrini, Moreno Solinas, Vera Tussing and Igor Urzelai.
Each artist will follow a tailored programme of artistic research, creative production and developmental opportunities such as residencies, coaching, managerial and financial tutorials and teaching contracts at The Place’s Centre for Advanced Training and London Contemporary Dance School. Artists will be members of Work Place for at least one year. Over the next three years, The Place will invest over £500,000 in the programme. The role of artist manager, supported by the Foyle Foundation, has been created for Work Place. This position will be advertised on The Place website over the summer.
