Fallen Angels Dance Theatre (FADT), a company that uses dance to help and celebrate recovery from addiction, will make its debut at the Royal Opera House on November 18. The intimate event, held in the Clore Studio, will be invitation only, but a lucky Dancing Times reader can win a pair of tickets to the show. Audiences worldwide can watch a live stream of the event via artstreamingtv.com.
As a newly-registered charity, FADT is also launching its first crowdfunding campaign at crowdfunder.co.uk/risen-from-fallen-angels (make link live). The company exists to break down barriers through creativity and self-expression. It inspires and supports young people and adults to make positive life choices through education and outreach programmes, aiming to change lives through art. One of its performers has gone from being unable to leave the house through anxiety and mental illness to playing a leading role.
Working with its recovery dance group, “Risen”, and with professional dancers, FADT has been exploring the idea of hitting rock bottom as a pivotal moment, a turning point that propels people to recovery, light and hope. The sharing at the Royal Opera House, which has the support of The Royal Ballet, is a one-off event danced by FADT and people in recovery.
FADT is giving facebook-using Dancing Times readers the chance to win a pair of tickets for the event at the Royal Opera House. To enter, “like” the company’s facebook page, post “Angels @ ROH” – and say why you would like to see the company! The closing date for the competition is November 10, 2015.
