KIKI, a new documentary about New York’s voguing dance scene, will be shown at London’s Bertha DocHouse from June 9.
A collaboration between Swedish filmmaker Sara Jordenö and Twiggy Pucci Garçon of the Kiki community, the documentary shows the world of voguing battles, where competition between houses demands leadership, intense practice and bold performance. Led by LGBTQ youth, it’s a subculture that offers performers a safe place to express their identities and address issues in their lives.
