Tina tangos off

Posted on November 1, 2010

web_tina_tangos_offFormer “Coronation Street” actress Tina O’Brien became the fourth celebrity voted off this year’s “Strictly Come Dancing”.

She and her partner Jared Murillo had danced an Argentine tango, praised by the judges as her best dance yet, with a score of 28. That put Tina and Jared seventh out of the 11 remaining couples, so there was some shock when they were eliminated by the public vote.

The current series of “Strictly” has had improved ratings, with an average of 10.4 million watching Saturday’s Halloween special, rising to a peak of 11 million.

Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there. She is the dance critic of The Independent, and has also written for The Independent on Sunday, The Scotsman and Dancing Times. In 2002, she received her doctorate from the University of York for a thesis on “Nationhood and epic romance: Ariosto, Sidney, Spenser”. She is the author of The Royal Ballet: 75 Years and The Ballet Lover’s Companion.
