Quimera Red, a short film choreographed by former Royal Ballet principal Thiago Soares and directed by Oskar Metsavaht, was selected for the Short Film Corner at this year’s film festival in Cannes, which runs until May 28.

Soares, who is now director of the Ballet de Monterey in Mexico, and who appears in the film along with Lana Rhodes, says the work is “about two lost soul lovers of the modern world who find each other, find compassion and a way to communicate that is unique and special to both of them. Between imagination and reality this film has no words but steps”.

The cinematography is by João Faissal, music by Caleb Ruiz and the film was edited by Marcelo Lince. This is the first time a short dance film from Brazil has been selected for the festival.
