Tango Week

It’s time to tango! Tango Week – seven days filled with free Argentine tango events – kicks off from October 22 to 28 across the four UK countries. Designed to introduce the public to the Argentine tango, its culture and music, the week is presented by the UKATA (the UK Argentine Tango Association), the body of tango schools and academies that was formed during the pandemic to respond to the challenges of COVID-19.

It is the first time that the tango community in the UK has organised an event of this magnitude, involving so many academies here, in Argentina and beyond. Everyone is welcome and all events are free for everyone to join, including in-person beginner and taster classes; “get started” tango videos; Zoom meetings; explorations of tango music, introducing the orchestras and how to interpret the tunes; interviews on tango in Argentina, past and future; and milongas (tango socials).
