Tango in the Terminal

Posted on March 28, 2011

About 40 tango dancers took the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dance to live music at Heathrow’s Terminal Five check-in area. This celebration of British Airways’ first direct flight to Buenos Aires included a free tasting of Argentine wines, courtesy of Gaucho, and a live band, Tango Tres.

The event was well received by those passing through Terminal 5, many of whom spent a while tasting the wines while watching the dancers. Rita Flindell, tango enthusiast and passenger service representative, said: “I’ve always dreamed of dancing at Terminal 5. Look at this space: it’s made for a milonga.”

One of the members of British Airways staff, who volunteered for this special shift, went straight from dancing with us to take passengers’ tickets at the departure gate.
