American Ballet Theatre (ABT) has announced its 2014 spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. Running from May 12 to July 5, it includes the company premiere of Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella, a Shakespeare celebration and a revival of Léonide Massine’s Gaîté Parisienne.
Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Re:Bourne, the company’s charitable arm, will tour a new production of Lord of the Flies from April 2014.
Cork City Ballet will celebrate its 21st birthday with a Ballet Spectacular Gala programme, presented at Cork Opera House from November 21 to 23. Stars include guest ballerina Lucia Lacarra, who danced with Roland Petit’s Ballet de Marseille, San Francisco Ballet and the Bavarian State Ballet. She will appear with her partner Marlon Dino.
Matthew Golding, currently a principal dancer with Dutch National Ballet, is to join The Royal Ballet in February 2014. His first performance will be on March 27, when he will partner Natalia Osipova in The Sleeping Beauty.

David Wall, one of the UK’s greatest male dancers, died on June 18, 2013. Kevin O’Hare, director of The Royal Ballet, and Tamara Rojo, director of English National Ballet, have led tributes to Wall as a dancer, teacher and coach.
Natalia Osipova, one of ballet’s biggest stars, will join The Royal Ballet as a principal dancer next season. Her first performances will be as Juliet in Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, where she will be partnered by Carlos Acosta.
The Bolshoi Ballet has announced repertory and some casting for its London season, which runs from July 29 to August 17 at the Royal Opera House. The visit will include guest performances by former Bolshoi stars Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev (pictured), plus the first foreign performances of the company’s new Sleeping Beauty.
