Makhar Vaziev to direct Bolshoi Ballet

Sergei Filin’s contract at the Bolshoi not renewed

Sergei Filin, the director of the Bolshoi Ballet who was nearly blinded in a horrific acid attack organised by one of his own dancers in Moscow in 2013, has been told his contract with the company will not be renewed when it expires in March 2016.

Bolshoi trial: verdicts

Bolshoi dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko and two co-defendants have been found guilty of attacking Sergei Filin, artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet. In January, acid was thrown in Filin’s face, scarring and nearly blinding him. Dmitrichenko has received a six-year jail sentence.

Filin on stage for Bolshoi curtain call

Sergei Filin, the director of the Bolshoi Ballet, appeared on stage after last night’s performance of Jewels at the Royal Opera House, London. Filin was injured in an acid attack in January. He has had many operations in an attempt to rescue his sight.

Bolshoi acid attack: arrests

Dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko is one of three people arrested in connection with the acid attack on Sergei Filin, artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet. He is accused of hiring Yuri Zarutsky and Andrei Lipatov to attack Filin. All three men have been denied bail.

Following the recent acid attack on Sergei Filin, artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet, Wayne McGregor’s new production of The Rite of Spring has been dropped. UPDATE: Instead, the company will dance a new version by Tatiana Baganova, director of the Provincial Dances Theatre in Yekaterinberg.
