Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui will be the next guest artistic director of the National Youth Dance Company (NYDC). The company has just given acclaimed performances at Sadler’s Wells under its current guest director, Akram Khan.
Encore Dance Company, the touring company for Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, will be dancing at the Elgiva Theatre, Chesham, on April 24 before travelling on to venues across England and Wales.

Highlights of the new season at Sadler’s Wells will include Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, James Thiérrée, a UK premiere by new associate artist Crystal Pite, the return of Breakin’ Convention and the Sadler’s Wells Flamenco Festival and, to celebrate the 2014 World Cup, a revival of Brasil Brasiliero.

Choreographer Hofesh Shechter (pictured) is to be the guest director of Brighton Festival 2014. Since 2009, the festival has invited artists to guest direct each year’s programme. Past directors have included artist Anish Kapoor, musician Brian Eno, Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, actress Vanessa Redgrave and author Michael Rosen.
