The Cottier Dance Project, a new Glasgow dance festival, launches this month with new commissions and collaborations and archive film screenings. A strand of the West End Festival, run in partnership with the Cottier Chamber Project, the festival runs at Glasgow’s Cottiers Theatre and the Grosvenor Cinema from June 22 to 27.
A Scandinavian season, a collaboration between composer Thomas Adès and choreographers Karole Armitage, Wayne McGregor, Crystal Pite and Alexander Whitley and a new work by Akram Khan and flamenco star Israel Galván (pictured) are among the highlights of the autumn season at London dance venue Sadler’s Wells.
In recent years, The Royal Ballet has had a bigger hand in the dance programme of the Linbury Studio Theatre, from commissioning new works from other companies to giving its own performances there. Kevin O’Hare, the artistic director of The Royal Ballet, talks about the Linbury season.
Natalia Osipova was injured while dancing the matinée performance Wayne McGregor’s new ballet Tetractys – The Art of Fugue on Saturday, February 8. With Osipova injured, and fellow cast member Thiago Soares unwell, The Royal Ballet was forced to cancel the evening performance of the work.

The London Coliseum will have a busy spring season for dance, with stars and companies including Ivan Putrov, the Kings of the Dance, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo and Eifman Ballet.
Men in Motion, Ivan Putrov’s showcase of male dancing, comes to the London Coliseum from January 30 to 31.
Nominations for the 14th National Dance Awards were announced today by the dance section of the Critics’ Circle.
Matthew Golding, currently a principal dancer with Dutch National Ballet, is to join The Royal Ballet in February 2014. His first performance will be on March 27, when he will partner Natalia Osipova in The Sleeping Beauty.
