Get ready for World Ballet Day!

On October 1, the first ever World Ballet Day will see an unprecedented collaboration between five of the world’s leading ballet companies: the Australian Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet.

Gailene Stock 1946-2014

The Royal Ballet School has announced that Gailene Stock, its director since 1999, died on April 29, 2014, following a long battle with cancer.

Assis Carreiro to direct the Royal Ballet of Flanders

Assis Carreiro, the driving force behind DanceEast, has been appointed artistic director of the Royal Ballet of Flanders. She joins the Antwerp-based company at a difficult time. The previous director, Kathryn Bennetts, clashed with the Flemish culture minister, Joke Schauvliege, over plans to amalgamate the Antwerp opera and ballet companies under a single intendant.
