The Royal Ballet announces 2014-15 season

The Royal Ballet has announced the repertoire for its 2014–15 season, from new classic revivals of Ashton and MacMillan to new works by Hofesh Shechter, Liam Scarlett and Wayne McGregor.

New season at the Paris Opéra

The Paris Opéra Ballet has announced its programme for the 2014–15 season, with a repertory ranging from hip hop and Wayne McGregor to Manon and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

Birmingham Royal Ballet plans

Birmingham Royal Ballet has announced plans for the 2013–14 season, including the UK premiere of David Bintley’s The Prince of the Pagodas (pictured), rare Frederick Ashton revivals and works by Bintley, John Cranko, George Balanchine and Kenneth MacMillan. Performances at Birmingham Hippodrome and some tour dates have been confirmed, with more performances to be announced.

The Royal Ballet in cinemas across the world

Tomorrow night, Anthony Dowell’s production of Swan Lake for The Royal Ballet will be seen in cinemas across the world.Supported by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, the relay is the opening event in a cinema season of nine ballet and opera productions that can be seen in 900 cinemas in 32 countries.  

A new Fille on the south coast

South Coast Ballet, the youth ballet company of east Dorset, will dance Caron Yardley’s production of La Fille mal gardée at the Lighthouse, Poole this weekend, with further performances in Bournemouth.

Frederick Ashton Foundation launched

The Frederick Ashton Foundation, set up to perpetuate the choreographer’s work and legacy, was launched on October 8.

Sadler’s Wells autumn season

Sadler’s Wells has announced its autumn season for 2011. The programme is dominated by a new Out of Asia strand, with artists and themes from China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Japan and Taiwan. There are also new works from Clod Ensemble (pictured, photograph by Manuel Vason), Fabulous Beast, Rambert Dance Company, Wayne McGregor and ZooNation.

Royal Ballet 2011-2012

2011–2012 will be Monica Mason’s final season as director of The Royal Ballet. This is, she explains, “a case of ‘Director’s Choice’ – I’ve included a lot of things that have been particularly special to me, and also one or two that might not appear again for a while.”
