Rambert is creating a site-specific work for its handsome new home on London’s South Bank. The Rambert Event is a new version of the “Events” staged by legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham, with designs by Gerhard Richter and music by Philip Selway from the rock band Radiohead.
The composer John Cage often used chance operations in his work: unpredictable elements that could change and shape the work. For Danza Preparata, performed at London’s Southbank Centre on Tuesday, October 16, the unpredictable elements include a cat named Mia.
Next summer, Scottish Ballet, English National Ballet and National Dance Company Wales will create work and perform together for the first time, as part of the Cultural Olympiad. Tickets are now on sale for the joint performances in Glasgow, Cardiff and London.
Dance Umbrella’s celebration of Merce Cunningham continues this week, from the company’s final London performances to French choreographer Jérôme Bel’s Cédric Andrieux, a solo specially created for the former Cunningham dancer.
