Sadler’s Wells has announced plans for its autumn/winter season, including Akram Khan Company, Hofesh Shechter Company, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and the first dance work by fashion designer Hussein Chalayan. Programmes for the Peacock Theatre and the Lilian Baylis Studio have also been announced.

Choreographer Jasmin Vardimon has been awareded the 2013 International Theatre Institute (ITI) award for excellence in international dance. Presented by Neville Shulman, director of the British Centre, the award recognises Vardimon’s choreographic work in recent years.

Assis Carreiro, the driving force behind DanceEast, has been appointed artistic director of the Royal Ballet of Flanders. She joins the Antwerp-based company at a difficult time. The previous director, Kathryn Bennetts, clashed with the Flemish culture minister, Joke Schauvliege, over plans to amalgamate the Antwerp opera and ballet companies under a single intendant.
