Three leading British companies have expressed concern over the standards of training in UK contemporary dance schools. Akram Khan Company, DV8 Physical Theatre and Hofesh Shechter Company say they have to look overseas because they cannot find UK-trained dancers of sufficient calibre.

The Salisbury International Arts Festival opens on Friday, May 20 with a programme that includes plenty of dance alongside theatre, circus, film, music and spoken word. This year, the festival focuses on the themes of China, dance and air, with venues from Salisbury Cathedral to Stonehenge.
