Well, here we are at the turn of another year, and everyone at Dancing Times would like to wish all our readers a very happy 2014. I like to think that this issue of the magazine is a kind of mini tribute to Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB), that much-loved company with its legions of admirers.

Spring with American Ballet Theatre

American Ballet Theatre (ABT) has announced its 2014 spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. Running from May 12 to July 5, it includes the company premiere of Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella, a Shakespeare celebration and a revival of Léonide Massine’s Gaîté Parisienne.

Cuban anniversaries

Cuba will soon celebrate two dance anniversaries. On October 28, it will be 65 years since the foundation of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba (BNC). On November 2, it will be the 70th anniversary of ballerina and company founder Alicia Alonso’s first performance of Giselle.
