Sadler’s Wells has announced plans for its autumn/winter season, including Akram Khan Company, Hofesh Shechter Company, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and the first dance work by fashion designer Hussein Chalayan. Programmes for the Peacock Theatre and the Lilian Baylis Studio have also been announced.
The Linbury season opens with the Deloitte Ignite festival, which runs from September 5 to 28. This year’s month-long festival is focused on ballet and dance. Sadler’s Wells has now released full details for spring and summer 2014, with performances at the Peacock Theatre and the Lilian Baylis Studio as well as the main stage. Christopher Powney, currently director of the Dutch National Ballet Academy, has been appointed artistic director designate of The Royal Ballet School. He will take up the position in April 2014.
Next summer, Scottish Ballet, English National Ballet and National Dance Company Wales will create work and perform together for the first time, as part of the Cultural Olympiad. Tickets are now on sale for the joint performances in Glasgow, Cardiff and London.
