The World Cup might be over, but there is still much Brazilian fun to be had in the UK this month. Brazilica 2014 is alive and kicking and this Friday, July 18, the popular Carnival Queen competition will heat up Liverpool’s Alma de Cuba Bar on Seel Street from 9pm.
Samba City, a complex of warehouses in central Rio de Janeiro, has been hit by fire. This is where the city’s top 12 samba schools had been making their final preparations for this year’s carnival, which begins on March 4. The fire has caused millions of pounds’ worth of damage, destroying costumes and floats.
