There’s a strong dance strand in this year’s The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, with both dancing authors and books about dance.
The full programme has been announced for Carlos Acosta’s Classical Selection, a new show presenting highlights from his career in celebration of his 40th birthday. Classical Selection will be at the London Coliseum from July 30 to August 4.
English National Ballet (ENB) has announced plans for the 2013–14 season, including new works by Akram Khan, Liam Scarlett and Russell Maliphant, the company’s first performances at London’s Barbican Theatre and a guest appearance by Carlos Acosta.
Natalia Osipova, one of ballet’s biggest stars, will join The Royal Ballet as a principal dancer next season. Her first performances will be as Juliet in Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, where she will be partnered by Carlos Acosta.

The London Coliseum has announced its dance performances for spring and summer 2013. The programme includes visits from overseas companies the Mikhailovsky Ballet and Boston Ballet, plus seasons by Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National Ballet.
Since retiring as a first soloist with The Royal Ballet, Isabel McMeekan has set up Everybody Ballet. The company offers adult ballet classes for beginners, as well as private coaching for students of all ages.
The Royal Ballet has announced that Russian ballerina Natalia Osipova will dance with the company as a guest artist in Swan Lake on October 10, 13 and 25. Osipova, one of the most exciting ballerinas of her generation, will be partnered by principal guest artist Carlos Acosta.
