The Royal Ballet’s new season, announced today by Kevin O’Hare, will include Frankenstein by Liam Scarlett and new works by Carlos Acosta, Will Tuckett, Christopher Wheeldon and Wayne McGregor.
The Ardani 25 Dance Gala, held at the London Coliseum on July 17 and 18, has a starry cast including Natalia Osipova, Edward Watson, Ivan Vasiliev, Marcelo Gomes, Denis Matvienko, Joaquín De Luz and Friedemann Vogel in an evening of new and recent choreography. The gala is presented by Sergei Danilian of Ardani Artists.

Nominations for the 13th National Dance Awards were announced today, at a reception held at The Place. The awards are for dance performances given between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012, and are chosen by the dance section of the Critics’ Circle.

2011–2012 will be Monica Mason’s final season as director of The Royal Ballet. This is, she explains, “a case of ‘Director’s Choice’ – I’ve included a lot of things that have been particularly special to me, and also one or two that might not appear again for a while.”
