Osipova to dance at Sadler’s Wells

Natalia Osipova, the Russian-born principal dancer with The Royal Ballet, is to appear in a triple bill of specially created contemporary works at Sadler’s Wells next summer. The announcement was made at Sadler’s Wells’ annual press conference, where the theatre also revealed its plans for the first half of 2016.

New season at Sadler’s Wells

Sadler’s Wells has announced plans for its autumn/winter season, including Akram Khan Company, Hofesh Shechter Company, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and the first dance work by fashion designer Hussein Chalayan. Programmes for the Peacock Theatre and the Lilian Baylis Studio have also been announced.

Farooq Chaudhry steps down as Dance UK chair

Farooq Chaudhry has stepped down as chair of Dance UK. The decision follows his public comments about contemporary dance training in the UK. Julian Flitter, Dance UK’s vice chair, has agreed to become interim chair.

UK contemporary dance training: choreographers raise concerns

Three leading British companies have expressed concern over the standards of training in UK contemporary dance schools. Akram Khan Company, DV8 Physical Theatre and Hofesh Shechter Company say they have to look overseas because they cannot find UK-trained dancers of sufficient calibre.
