New season at the Peacock and Lilian Baylis Studio

Away from the main stage, the Sadler’s Wells autumn/winter season includes returning favourites such as Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, plus a Wild Card season and new collaborations in the Lilian Baylis Studio.

New season at Sadler’s Wells

Sadler’s Wells has announced plans for its autumn/winter season, including Akram Khan Company, Hofesh Shechter Company, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and the first dance work by fashion designer Hussein Chalayan. Programmes for the Peacock Theatre and the Lilian Baylis Studio have also been announced.

Manchester International Festival 2015

The first productions for 2015’s Manchester International Festival (MIF15) have been announced, including a new ballet by Wayne McGregor, starring Paris Opéra étoiles Aurélie Dupont, Marie-Agnès Gillot and Jérémie Bélingard.

For its autumn tour, David Hughes Dance looks back to its roots, with works by Matthew Bourne, Robert Cohan and Tanja Liedtke, and forwards with Walking Shadow, a new commission from Cathy Marston.

Tsiskaridze and Lopatkina for the Vaganova Academy?

Russian newspaper Izvestia reports that Nikolai Tsiskaridze, who recently left the Bolshoi Theatre after several reprimands and a court case, will become Rector of the Vaganova Academy, St Petersburg’s leading ballet school. The current rector, Vera Dorofeyeva, will be offered a new position.

RUBBERBANDance Group

Canadian company RUBBERBANDance Group (pictured) come to the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room this week, dancing Gravity of Center, an explosive blend of ballet and hip hop.
