Strictly Come Dancing professionals Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer will teach a unique one-day workshop on the technique of ballroom and Latin for intermediate and professional dancers at Danceworks, London, on May 19.
The workshop, aimed at commercial, musical theatre, contemporary and ballet dancers and choreographers, promises to demystify what is an alien technique to many and give an outline that can be understood by non-ballroom and Latin dancers.
Kevin and Karen, who met touring with Burn The Floor, are well placed to instruct this workshop, having emerged from different dance backgrounds.
Kevin, whose parents Keith and Judy are Latin champions, trained and competed in ballroom and Latin from childhood before appearing in the West End in Dirty Dancing. Karen was a scholar at the Martha Graham Dance School and the High School of Performing Arts, the Fame School, and found fame in the US’s So You Think You Can Dance.
The workshop on May 19 aims to demystify partner dance, looking at dancing in hold and leading with your heels, among other technique points.
We are sorry to announce that the Q&A with Karen and Kevin on May 20 has now been cancelled.
