Strictly NHS

The inaugural edition of Strictly NHS on June 4 will see 12 NHS employees swapping their scrubs and lanyards for sequins and sparkle as they compete in a Strictly Come Dancing-style competition in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. The event, partnering with NHS charity Blue Skies, aims to achieve a fundraising target of £10,000 for the NHS.

Each contestant will train with a professional dancer for six weeks before performing together, dressed by Strictly’s head costume designer Vicky Gill and DSI London, in front of an audience and judges. The judging panel will include former Strictly and Argentine tango champion Flavia Cacace, Strictly choreographer James Wilson and current pro dancers Amy Dowden and Giovanni Pernice. The event will be hosted by former Strictly professional Ian Waite. Tickets can be purchased for the live show or the live stream. Go to strictlynhs.co.uk for more information.

In other ballroom news, Burn Nation, the online dance and fitness platform run by the dancers of Burn the Floor, will be putting a new twist on two of its popular classes. Additional rhythm and yoga classes will be added to the weekly timetable, to be delivered in Italian by Francesco Sasanelli and Giulia Ardizzoni, two of Burn the Floor’s Italian dancers.
