Steven McRae and Cory Stearns in artist exchange programme

steven-mcrae-in-rhapsody.-photo-roh-tristram-kentonAmerican Ballet Theatre has announced an artist exchange programme that will bring The Royal Ballet’s Steven McRae (pictured) and the Royal Danish Ballet’s Alban Lendorf to New York for the company’s 2013 Metropolitan Opera House season. In exchange, ABT principal Cory Stearns and soloist Isabella Boylston will appear with The Royal Ballet and the Royal Danish Ballet during 2013.

McRae will dance the role of Lankedem in Le Corsaire at the June 5 matinée and the June 8 evening performances. Alban Lendorf will dance the prince in The Sleeping Beauty at the matinée on July 6.

Cory Stearns will appear with The Royal Ballet in December 2013, though his performances have yet to be announced. Isabella Boylston will dance the roles of Dew Drop and Sugar Plum Fairy in the Royal Danish Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker, also in December 2013.

Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there. She is the dance critic of The Independent, and has also written for The Independent on Sunday, The Scotsman and Dancing Times. In 2002, she received her doctorate from the University of York for a thesis on “Nationhood and epic romance: Ariosto, Sidney, Spenser”. She is the author of The Royal Ballet: 75 Years and The Ballet Lover’s Companion.
