Wilton’s Music Hall’s bid for Heritage Lottery funding has been rejected.
The world’s oldest surviving music hall will be closed this year without £3.8 million repairs, including work on unsafe floors and structural beams. Wilton’s nurtured early music hall stars, including Champagne Charlie, and presented some of the first British performances of the cancan. A campaign has been launched to save the building – to donate, see wiltons.org.uk.
