Posted on June 27, 2011

pepa molina pic2Pepa Molina Flamenco Dance Company will present a special performance at Harrogate Theatre, as part of Harrogate International Festivals 2011, on July 1 at 8pm.

A rising star of the new generation of flamenco artists, Pepa and her company of dancers, singers and musicians aim to push at the traditional boundaries of flamenco in a performance that features the traditional range of flamenco styles including tangos, bulerías, alegrías and soleares.

Born in Sydney, the daughter of Andalusian migrants from Granada, Pepa started to dance with Antonio Vargas, from the Pilar Lopez School, before moving to Granada. Pepa made her debut as a flamenco dancer in Spain in the early 1990s, studying with Juan Andrés Maya and Manolete. She was one of the guest choreographers at the Bienal de Flamenco in 1996 in Seville and toured internationally as a soloist in productions by Rafael Amargo throughout 2001–2004. In 2004, Pepa Molina established her own dance company, performing to acclaim in Madrid, Milan, Zurich and Washington DC.
