It’s now 20 years since the death of Rudolf Nureyev, one of the most charismatic ballet stars of the 20th century.
This year, the Ballet of La Scala, Milan will revive Nureyev’s production of Swan Lake, and also commemorates him online, with video clips, pictures and a short essay by Paola Calvetti, focusing on his performances and influence in Milan.
Nureyev’s Swan Lake will be in repertory at La Scala from July 17 to October 18, with guest performances by another Russian star, Natalia Osipova, in July.
