Editorial and contents November 2017
This month, we highlight performances of ballets by Kenneth MacMillan presented in the UK as part of Kenneth MacMillan: a National Celebration, which will be continuing in London early this month. MacMillan’s choreography has been seen recently in Birmingham, Bradford, Glasgow, Manchester and London, but it has also been presented in Texas, where, in September, Houston Ballet danced his three-act Mayerling for the first time – I report from the city on page 30. Also this month, Margaret Willis travels to Cyprus to meet ballerina Svetlana Zakharova, who will be bringing her show, Amore, to the London Coliseum later this month; Nicola Rayner reports on the 2017 International Dance Championships; and Graham Watts writes about a spectacular gala held in México City. Of special interest to dancers, in this month’s health column, Debbie Malina looks at the painful issue of bunions; and in our Education pages we continue our reports on some of the end-of-year performances by the UK’s leading vocational colleges. There will be more to come next month, too!
