Musical Theatre news: the new musical All the Fun of the Fair has opened at the Garrick Theatre, London. Starring David Essex, the show features his pop hits alongside new songs.
Cameron Mackintosh brings a second production of Les Misérables as part of the show’s 25th anniversary celebrations. This new touring production, which opened in Cardiff last December, will be at the Barbican Theatre, London – where the show’s UK premiere was held in 1985 – from September 14-October 2. Tap Dogs, last seen in London in 2001, returns to the West End from June 15 for a 12-week season at the Novello Theatre. The Broadway production of Hair has opened at the West End’s Gielgud Theatre, with its award-winning Broadway cast. On May 29, David Resier’s new musical, Ballets Russes, has its UK premiere at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, London. See balletsrussesthemusical.com for details.
