With the general election approaching, the UK dance sector, under the leadership of Dance UK, has launched an advocacy campaign titled DanceVote 2010. The campaign challenges the hundreds of thousands of dance enthusiasts and professionals across the UK, whatever their political persuasion, to contact local candidates standing for election, tell them about dance in their area and ask them to pledge their support for dance. To find out more about the campaign, visit www.dancevote2010.com.
On page 14 of this issue of Dancing Times, Paul Arrowsmith looks at how historic theatre designs are recreated and re-interpreted for the modern stage, and on page 23 Zoë Anderson gives us her impressions of the latest edition of the dance exhibition, MOVE IT. Also this month, on page 93, we introduce Vadim Muntagirov, our Dancer of Month, who will be leading the first night of English National Ballet’s Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall in June as well as reacquainting you, on page 41, with Dianne Richards, a former principal dancer with London Festival Ballet.
