Matthew Bourne in conversation

matthew_bourneMatthew Bourne will be speaking at the National Theatre on November 21. Bourne celebrates 25 years of his company – named first Adventures in Motion Pictures, now New Adventures – in 2012.

 

An updated edition of his book, Matthew Bourne and His Adventures in Dance, written with Alastair Macaulay, has just been published. At the National’s Cottesloe Theatre, Bourne will reflect on his years as “Britain’s favourite choreographer”, in conversation with David Benedict. The event starts at 6pm, followed by a book signing. Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there. She is the dance critic of The Independent, and has also written for The Independent on Sunday, The Scotsman and Dancing Times. In 2002, she received her doctorate from the University of York for a thesis on “Nationhood and epic romance: Ariosto, Sidney, Spenser”. She is the author of The Royal Ballet: 75 Years and The Ballet Lover’s Companion.
