This month, we take a look at some of the most popular current trends in dance. Zoë Anderson talks to street dance star Tommy Franzén on page 14, who caused a sensation in ZooNation’s Some Like It Hip Hop last year, and who has also been appearing recently in Russell Maliphant’s The Rodin Project in Paris and London. Debbie Malina takes a look at how best to protect yourself from injury whilst performing street dance and hip hop on page 29, whilst on page 21 musical theatre star Bonnie Langford offers some top tips to aspiring dancers.
Graham Watts looks at how dance is all a-twitter on the Internet on page 23, and on page 26 we reveal the winners of the 2011 Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards. In a packed issue, Laura Dodge also takes a look at the life of the corps de ballet and ensemble dancer on page 41, and on page 35 Gerald Dowler talks to Lesley Collier, a beloved ballerina of The Royal Ballet, about her new career as a répétiteur with the company. With dance tastes so broad, we think there is something for everyone to enjoy here!
