The Lowry has been chosen as one of 20 organisations for the UK-wide scheme mygames.
Inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the scheme encourages young people to make a difference in their communities. Funded by v, the National Young Volunteers Service, mygames focuses on the themes of education, culture, environment, health and sport. The Lowry will create a programme of community engagement, culminating in a three-day digital arts festival in 2011. Young members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in and around Salford will research, programme, market, organise stage and staff the festival, in partnership with other volunteers across Greater Manchester.
