Gloster Jive and Swing Dance holds its ninth annual Gloucester Lindy Hop. Weekend from September 26 to 28. It’s a friendly dance camp with workshops, evening dances and a splendid line-up of teachers, pitched at improver, intermediate and more advanced swing dancers.
The weekend opens with a welcome dance on Friday 26, followed by two days of workshops. The teachers include Jenny Thomas (who choreographed swing dances for Strictly Come Dancing), Swing Patrol founder Scott Cupit, twice UK lindy hop champions Gary and Sara Boone and Paul “Bic” Graham and Simone Brown. The Saturday night dance is only open to workshop attendees.
To round the weekend off, there’s a Sunday dance at “Duke’s Place – The Jazz Café”. Workshops are held at Bishops Cleeve Tythe Barn, a 15th-century building with a sprung maple wood floor.
Weekend passes are available from £79, with many other options available. See www.jiveandswing.co.uk for details.
