Le Patin Libre in London

Posted on January 15, 2013

French-Canadian dance troupe, Le Patin Libre, will be dancing on ice – but not as we know it – at London’s Alexandra Palace on January 20, 2013.

Samory Ba tells me: “Our dancers are all ex-traditional figure skaters who, with the help of the Canadian Council for the Arts and other artistic institutions, turned their athletic virtuosity into a legitimate means of cultural expression.

“Our reviewers have begun to talk about the emergence of ‘contemporary skating’. The piece we will present in London, The Rule of 3, is the result of two years’ creation in both France and Canada. It proposes a weird, wordless, satire of the too-well-known sparkly ‘on ice’ showbusiness.”

The Rule of 3 begins at 5.30pm on January 20 at Alexandra Palace. Tickets cost £14 or £17 (£15 for concessions) on the door.
