Kizomba teacher training day with the UKA

Posted on March 19, 2012

The United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing and Kindred Arts (UKA) has arranged a special teacher training day for kizomba teachers this Sunday, March 25 on board the Teresa Joanne, moored in Docklands, east London.

Teachers for the day will be Nelson Campos, who first introduced kizomba to the UK and UKA, and Christian Jean-Francois, who won the 2011 Best Teacher Award, and who has introduced kizomba de roda.

Ansell Chezan, director, fellow and examiner at the UKA, said: “I, of course, will be there to explain the UKA side of the proposed assessment. Obviously, attending the day will not give you the qualification. This will have to be booked, and then you will be assessed at a different time. Please contact me as soon as possible (, as numbers are limited, and are starting to be taken up.”

The reception will be at 10:30am, with instruction starting at 11am. There will be a hot and cold buffet lunch at 1pm, with training resuming at 2pm. The UKA is planning an after-workshop party, which will be free to attendants and £5 on the door to their friends.

The fee is £100 for the whole day, including lunch, the party, and a kizomba DVD or CD. (UKA members have a discounted price of £80.)
