Houston Ballet’s new building

Posted on October 5, 2010

Houston Ballet’s new $53 million building, which opens next spring, will be the largest professional dance company facility in the US.

The building will have nine dance studios, a “dance laboratory” space that seats 200 people, an on-site dormitory and support facilities for the company and its school. Designed by architecture firm Gensler, the new Center for Dance will be a sustainable, energy-efficient building. It will allow Houston Ballet’s education and outreach programmes to reach 30,000 students in the Houston area.

Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there.
