Global Dance Contest
Public voting is now open for the second year of the Sadler’s Wells online Global Dance Contest.
The web-based competition, in which dancers submit videos via YouTube, has received almost 200 entries from across the world. A panel of arts figures, chaired by Alistair Spalding, artistic director of Sadler’s Wells, has chosen a shortlist of ten dance videos. The winner, chosen by the public, will received £2,000, while the work will be showcased at Sadler’s Wells Sampled, the theatre’s annual taster weekend. This year’s finalists include the Auckland-based hip hop crew Sweet & Sour, Seoul company Modern Table and an all-male work by London choreographer John Ross. This year’s winner will be announced on November 3. To vote, go to globaldancecontest.com.
