Good news with which to start 2011. Despite the current economic climate, subscriptions to Dancing Times rose by 20 per cent last year, and we would like to thank all our loyal readers and advertisers for sticking with us. 2010 was a special anniversary year for us, but we aim to continue producing consistently informative, invigorating, and entertaining magazines. It seems our efforts are paying off.
There is truly an international feel to this month’s magazine, with features on the Havana Festival and ballet in Athens, as well as our regular Letter from St Petersburg, plus Dance Scene reviews from Amsterdam, London, Ludwigshafen, Montreal, Munich, New York, Paris, Taipei, Toronto and Vancouver. We also interview English National Ballet’s Japanese-born senior principal dancer, Erina Takahashi, and mark the 20th anniversary of the death of Dame Margot Fonteyn with an article on the prima ballerina assoluta’s promotion of British fashion. We hope you enjoy it.
