DV8’s JOHN on stage and screen

Posted on November 3, 2014

john-dv8JOHN, the latest work from DV8’s Lloyd Newson, is open now at the National Theatre in London, where it runs in repertory until January 13, 2015. The show will also be broadcast to cinemas worldwide.

The project started with a series of frank interviews about love and sex. Newson spoke to more than 50 men: one of them was John.

What emerged from the interview was a touching, unexpected story. After years of crime, drug abuse and struggling to survive, John began a search in which his life converges with others. Using movement and spoken word, JOHN depicts real-life stories in a poignant theatrical experience. Conceived and directed by Newson, the work will later tour to Brighton Dome, The Lowry, Salford and internationally, with more 2015 dates to be announced.

The performance on December 9 will be screened in cinemas as part of the NTLive programme.
