Marie Curie Cancer Care calls on dance groups to turn their dancing classes into sponsored events, raising funds for the charity this March.
Award-winning choreographer Robbie McGowan Hickie has created a line dancing routine especially for the fundraiser. Josephine Brennan King, principal dancer and former dance captain in Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, has choreographed an Irish dancing number for the event. Other top choreographers have created routines in salsa, ballroom and street dance styles.
The Daffodil Dance takes place during Marie Curie’s annual flagship fundraising campaign, the Great Daffodil Appeal. Every March, the charity encourages everyone in the UK to donate and to wear a daffodil pin in support of Marie Curie nurses, who provide free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes and in the charity’s hospices. Dance groups can join in with the Daffodil Dance any time during March 2011.
When a dance group registers to take part, they receive the steps for their chosen dance style, daffodil pin badges and a free fundraising pack including hints and tips on how to make their event a success. Register your Daffodil Dance now by visiting www.mariecurie.org.uk/daffodildance or by calling 0845 601 3107.
