Dancing Times chosen as My Favourite Magazine

Posted on June 24, 2020

As we approach our 110th anniversary in October, Dancing Times was delighted – and completely taken by surprise – to be chosen in June as “My Favourite Magazine” by the International Magazine Centre. Selected by Grace Balfour-Harle, who, as well as being a dance teacher, is editorial assistant at the Beano (published by DC Thomson and Co Ltd), the magazine was particularly praised for the way it kept readers up-to-date with dance across the world, as well as its editorial approach and use of photography, which brought out “the absolute best in what is such a visual art”. High praise, indeed! All of the team at Dancing Times would like to thank Grace and the International Magazine Centre for such an honour.

Jonathan Gray is editor of Dancing Times. He studied at The Royal Ballet School, Leicester Polytechnic, and Wimbledon School of Art where he graduated with a BA Hons in Theatre Design. For 16 years he was a member of the curatorial department of the Theatre Museum, London, assisting on a number of dance-related exhibitions, and helping with the recreation of original designs for a number of The Royal Ballet’s productions including Danses concertantes, Daphnis and Chloë, and The Sleeping Beauty. He has also contributed to the Financial Times, written programme articles for The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet, and is co-author of the book Unleashing Britain: Theatre gets real 1955-64, published in 2005.
