Dancesport joins the Masters

The International DanceSport Federation has become a member of the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), meaning that dance will now be included in the World and European Masters Games.


These events, for athletes aged 35 and over, have more participants than any other multi-sport event in the world. The next event will be the 2011 European Masters Games, held in Lignano, Italy on September 17-18. Dancesport will have three age classes for couple dances: 35 and over, 45 and over, 55 and over. There will be competitions in “Couple standard dances” and “Couple Latin dances”. For more information see

Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there. She is the dance critic of The Independent, and has also written for The Independent on Sunday, The Scotsman and Dancing Times. In 2002, she received her doctorate from the University of York for a thesis on “Nationhood and epic romance: Ariosto, Sidney, Spenser”.
