Dance Umbrella’s Bold & Beautiful Ball

stephen petronio company by sarah silverOn Sunday, May 8, Dance Umbrella will hold a grand ball to raise funds for its Commissioning Fund. For more than 30 years, Dance Umbrella has commissioned, produced and presented events as part of one of the world’s leading international dance festivals.


The Bold & Beautiful Ball will be held at the Savoy Ballroom, 1 Savoy Hill, London. The event, compèred by Simon Callow, will open with a champagne reception at 6pm. After dinner and entertainment, there will be an auction to raise funds, followed by dancing to the music of Graham Dalby and the Grahamophones. The dress code is black tie/bold and beautiful.

Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there. She is the dance critic of The Independent, and has also written for The Independent on Sunday, The Scotsman and Dancing Times. In 2002, she received her doctorate from the University of York for a thesis on “Nationhood and epic romance: Ariosto, Sidney, Spenser”. She is the author of The Royal Ballet: 75 Years and The Ballet Lover’s Companion.
