Dance on film: call for papers

gingerThe European Association of Dance Historians will hold its annual conference in London from October 14–16 this year.

 

A collaboration with the Film Studies department at London Metropolitan University, the conference is titled “Not just Fred and Ginger: Camaraderie, collusion and collisions between dance and film”. The association is calling for proposals an any topic related to dance and film, for example choreography and film, dance as cinematic narrative, dance stars on and of the screen, directors of the film musical or the dancing body on film. The deadline for submission of proposals is April 29. For more details, email eadhconference@gmail.com.

Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there. She is the dance critic of The Independent, and has also written for The Independent on Sunday, The Scotsman and Dancing Times. In 2002, she received her doctorate from the University of York for a thesis on “Nationhood and epic romance: Ariosto, Sidney, Spenser”. She is the author of The Royal Ballet: 75 Years and The Ballet Lover’s Companion.
