Dance Hub Birmingham has announced a commissioning round for South Asian dance artists based in Birmingham or the West Midlands with the aim to help dancers develop and present work in the region. Applications can be made up until February 11, 2019.

Through its South Asian dance strand, Dance Hub Birmingham will award four commissions of up to £7,500, and is keen to support the development of classically-trained South Asian dancers who wish to explore choreographic practice and develop new commissioned work. Dancers who have trained in any of the classical South Asian dance styles (including Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri, Yakshagana, Kuchipudi, Chau, Kathakali, Mohini Attam and Sattriya) for a minimum of five years who are based – or who work – in the West Midlands are asked to apply for funding to create a new piece of work (up to 15 minutes in length) with a choreographer they have not worked with before (who may be from any dance genre).
