Brighton Lindy Hop Festival

Brighton Lindy Hop Festival, celebrating all things swing, will take place from April 26 to 28.

Simon Selmon, of London Swing Dance Society, and Lizzie Abrahams, of Sussex Swing (both pictured), will present a weekend of lindy hop classes, live music and Brighton’s first annual Lindy Hop Championship at the University of Sussex.

On Friday, April 26, the festival will kick off at 7pm with the Big Apple taster class and dance with DJs Simon “Mr Kicks” Selmon and Lizzie Abrahams – and the Lindy Hop Championship will take place.

On Saturday, April 27, join all-day workshops with some of the UK’s leading lindy hop instructors: Simon Selmon and Jessica Willis, Lizzie Abrahams and Ichtis and Solveiga. An evening dance will take place from 8pm to 3am, with live band Wally’s Wheel Tappers, a Charleston taster class, cabaret, top swing DJs and a late-night blues party.

The festival will close on Sunday, April 28 with a tea dance, from 2pm to 5pm, starting with a balboa taster class with tea, scones and lashings of jam and cream! 
The tea dance will be held at Brighton Unitarian Church, New Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 1UF.
